Via openbare DNS is van buitenaf te zien waar uw mail loopt (Microsoft 365, een eigen server of een externe filterdienst) en of er een publiek autodiscover-endpoint bestaat dat vaak op een on-premises Exchange wijst. Dat is waardevolle informatie: een publiek bereikbaar Exchange-endpoint op een server zonder beveiligingsupdates is precies waar aanvallers naar zoeken.
Via public DNS it's visible from the outside where your mail runs (Microsoft 365, your own server or an external filtering service) and whether a public autodiscover endpoint exists that often points to an on-premises Exchange. That's valuable information: a publicly reachable Exchange endpoint on a server without security updates is exactly what attackers look for.
